What is Law Society Publishing?

Law Society Publishing is the commercial publishing arm of the Law Society. We are committed to producing high quality, practical books to support your professional practice and keep you abreast of the latest legal developments.

Many of our books represent the official viewpoint of the Society on practice rules or best practice. Other books are written by independent experts, providing a practical view of how the latest changes in the law will affect legal practice.


I would like to be an author for Law Society Publishing. How do I go about this?

We are always delighted to hear from potential authors and promise that every proposal we receive will be given serious consideration. If you have an idea for a new book, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will work with you to explore its commercial potential. Our team has a wide range of publishing experience, coming from companies such as LexisNexis Butterworths, Sweet and Maxwell, Jordans, Routledge and Macmillan.

Once a proposal is accepted for publication, we are committed to providing our authors with the highest standard of editorial and marketing support, backed up by the unique resources of the Law Society.

The book I ordered came with a free CD-ROM but it is missing/damaged. Can I get another one?

Contact the Marketing Team at marketing@lawsociety.org.uk and we will either send a replacement out or, if this is unavailable, email the relevant files to you.

You can return books within 28 days after purchase providing that the book is in mint, saleable condition. For further information, please see our Terms and Conditions


How do I make a complaint?

If your complaint is related to an order, please contact Prolog in the first instance, providing as much detail as possible.

If your complaint is not related to an order, please contact the Marketing Team, providing an outline of your complaint.


Where can I obtain copies of the free customer client care guides?

The Law Society produces a range of customer client care guides on legal issues ranging from buying a home through to preparing for a divorce. These are available free of charge through the Law Society website at www.lawsociety.org.uk


Are these all the gifts that the Law Society offers?

Yes, these are all the gifts that are now available.

What are the silver items made from?

Unless stated otherwise, the silver coloured items are chrome plated.


What does the silver pen set consist of and where can I get refills for the pen?

The silver pen set contains one pen and it takes standard refills.


Can the Law Society Plaque be mounted on a wall?

Yes, it can be hung on a nail (there is a hole in the back of the plaque that can be hooked on to a nail in the wall).


Are the prints framed?

No, they are mounted on card only.


Can I have items gift wrapped?

This service is no longer available.


Can I have items engraved?

This service is no longer available.


Do you arrange corporate gifts?

This service is no longer available.


Can I return a gift?

You can return the gift within 28 days of receipt providing that it is unused and in mint, saleable condition. Items can only be returned by the purchaser (i.e. not the recipient). Items must be returned to Prolog.

I'm purchasing a gift for someone else. Will the price be visible on the item?

No. Price tags are not used for the gift items on the website. However, please remember to enter a delivery address if this is different to the invoice address to ensure that the invoice is not despatched with the gift.


Are gifts subject to VAT?

Yes they are. The prices stated include VAT.


Are books subject to VAT?

No, books are not subject to VAT.


What dimensions are the Practicing Certificate Frames?

They take A4 certificates.


Do the Practising Certificate Frames take the SRA certificates?

Yes they do.


How is the cup packaged?

The cup comes in a cardboard box and is bubble wrapped.


Do other items carry the crest in full colour?

What dimensions are the business card holders?

The card holders take standard sized business cards and can also take credit cards.
